I find it interesting that Mr. Erickson, citizen, will disagree with everything the new council tries to either pass or talk about. I do think that this is due to the fact that Mr. Erickson is not the popular type of person and this is his way of trying to get acceptance by poo pooing everything.
It is becoming more and more important that we do consider the rail system since it has been hinted that gas prices may reach $7 a gallon. The unrest in the Middle East and maybe more of the world may make this the best type of mass transportation at this time.
Mr. Erickson and his band of malcontents try to conform everyone to their choices instead of letting the people of DeBary make their own decisions. He makes the people feel like we are not educated enough to live in his standards and his standards are the only ones.
We should be allowed to decide whether we want to gamble. If you are an adult, this is your choice. Government has taken the stance that it is within their right to control and manipulate us what we can and cannot do. Some people cannot handle the pressures of gambling just as some cannot say no to alcohol, cigarettes, and almost any other activity. Most people do have a responsibility to their families and themselves and know when to stop. One teacher does not make a cross section of the normal sector of southwest Volusia County.
Fireworks at Gemini inwhich I am proud to be a part of is a great idea to help bring our community and our area of southwest Volusia County together for a purpose. Yet Erickson and the Poppettes continue on in their mundane beat while trying to find anything wrong and if they have to, twist the right things into being negative for their political agendas. Chris Carson is working feverishly on this project and has the experience and realization what this type of project can do to promote the city of DeBary.
I know that there will be retribution for my comments on their blog but one gets tired of hearing the same old dance without the hint of a new song coming up. I congratulate this new Council and hope it continues to listen to the different variety of opinions and ideas. I feel that this Council will be progressive, create unity, and welcome new businesses and families into our great city.
