Call them what you want but here is the structure. You have one person over the 'parks and recreation'. Then you have one person over the parks and one person over recreation. Then under that you have an 'assistant' under parks and an 'assistant' under recreation. I am not even getting into the pay schedule I am just pointing out that we have two people to put in a light bulb. One to hold it and one to turn it. Or so it seems....................

I do understand that SJRWMD is NOT a business but a government agency, very different from the profit driven business's you mention. I also understand what they do...limit my lawn watering to one day a week while allowing a water bottling company to extract millions of gallons to ship wherever.

Have you noticed the improvements in the various parks? The city is not paying for all the cost, a lot of the money is coming from grants. Who do you think is writing those grant request? Maybe someone in the parks department. Maybe they are earning their salary.

www.sjrwmd.com/niagarabottlingpermit/index.htmlYoungun, I did a little research for you. If you read the statement issued by the WMD, you will see you are b****ing about NOTHING substantial. Also if you are complaining about only watering once a week, you need to look into planting some native species that require no other water then what will occasionaly fall from the sky. Just a thought....

Meanwhile the Westside of the county is being told to reduce the overall water consumption to pre 1980 levels and to look towards alternative water sources while the eastside pipes its water from Westside.
Tells us again what the SJWMD actually does. From this point, it looks like yet another governmental agency that thinks the sun raises and sets around them.

Parks and Rec does many intangible jobs and multitask just like other departments of DeBary. It is not always planting posies and cutting ball fields.

About nothing? What's a hundred million between friends and taxpayers....multiplied by five districts? No big deal really. Have you applied for their open director position yet? Research it on their web site.

you guys are killling me...you have yet to put forth one true fact. The district payroll has stayed virtually the same for the last four years with no raises or bonuses except to the director, while the total annual budget has dropped over 140 million dollars in that same period due to revenue from property taxes going in the tank. That yearly payroll expense is about 65 million dollars. Like I said in my first response, I would like to see some justification for some of the higher salaries that far exceed our areas average income. Second, I can assure you the westside / eastside who pumps more water thing Charlie alluded to does not exist. Yes the beachside area has wells that exist toward the center of the county to keep from drawing more saltwater than is feasible to treat. Last, there is no way the westside is limited to "pre - 1980" levels, not one resteraunt in the Four Towns area would exist if that was true.
